Abstract

This study discusses militaristic trends during the Ottoman Empire through the Janissary Army system. The advantages of military-oriented education at that time can be identified through the development and popularity of a systematic education system. This study uses a library research method with a descriptive historical approach. Data sources were obtained from Ottoman historical literature, journals, and books related to the Islamic army. The results of the study show that the militaristic trend of the Yennisari is characterised by three main aspects: first, the application of advanced weapons technology in its time; second, integrated war tactics training; and third, the optimisation of military architecture. This shift in the system is a response to the increasing relevance and attractiveness of militaristic education over time. This system has been proven to provide efficiency and strategic advantages for personnel in maintaining the increasingly dominant Ottoman power. The Yennisari military education system became a model of modern military education that focused not only on physical strength, but also on discipline, loyalty, and mastery of technology
