Abstract

This article examines the implementation of Aceh's culture-based character education in facing the challenges of modern globalization. Through an analysis of policy and practice in the field, this research explores how Qanun No. 11/2014 on the Implementation of Education in Aceh encourages the integration of local values such as local languages and customs in the education curriculum. Library research is used to analyze and interpret existing text sources in the literature related to Aceh's history and culture, character education values in Aceh's culture and the Aceh government's policy on education in Aceh. The results of the review show that Acehnese culture is heavily influenced by Islamic values which can be seen from the five elements of culture, including beliefs, norms and customs, language, symbols and rituals and practices in daily life. Global culture has influenced the five elements of Aceh culture and the character of Aceh's next generation so that the Aceh local government issued a policy in the form of Qanun number 11 of 2014 and added several policies in the draft revision of Qanun number 11 of 2014 concerning prohibitions in education and incorporating elements of Islamic sharia values in the curriculum and school commitment in implementing character values will help prepare a smart and noble next generation, who are able to face global dynamics by maintaining a strong local identity
